Bailey’s Law (Bill C-225) Passed!

Bailey’s Law (Bill C-225) is Canadian legislation amending the Criminal Code to strengthen the legal response to intimate partner violence (IPV)
Spearheaded by MP Frank Caputo and championed by the family of Bailey McCourt—a B.C. mother murdered by her ex-partner—the bill officially received Royal Assent on June 17, 2026.

The family continues to advocate for additional provincial protections such as a Domestic Violence Offender Registry and mandatory GPS tracking for high-risk offenders upon their release.
